In the interior of Rostov-on-Don cafe «Gendarmerie», occupying a constructivist building dating back to the 1920s, the theme of a police station of the last century has been played up. Thus, the lobby is separated from the main premises by means of thick iron bars and solid glass. The entrance door, with two red signal lamps above it, «melts» into the frontage of the building. The sliding doors of the lavatories are supplied with peep-holes and resemble entrances to punishment cells. All the surfaces in the main room have been finished in archaized wood; the walls are executed in painted brick. The main wall is done up in wooden boxes of a card index. The DJ's mixing console bears a resemblance to a judge's bureau. Under the glass on the tables there are laid out old-time letters, postcards and documents associating with evidence in investigations. The VIP-area looks a lot like a casket -- its walls, ceiling and sofas are done up in a leather material; the tops of miniature tables are executed as chess-boards. Light is provided by ceiling lamps in the shape of light-boxes, pasted over with old newspapers, and lamps fixed to the sofas's backs on flexible brackets. The cafe's palette includes such warm shades as off-white, chocolate-brown and creamy.
